Welcome to the Races!
      
      Several years ago, we at Competitive Software personally needed a
      scoring program for managing downhill ski events.  The season
      consisted of up to ten races with 2 runs in each race and as many
      as 300 participants in each race.  With some modifications, we      
      adapted that program to score many types of events that are
      measured in elapsed time.
      
      Events such as swimming, long distance canoe marathons, triathlons,
      sled dog championships, and cross country skiing are just some of
      the events that have used this program.  Although the program is
      pretty flexible, volunteer workers with little or no experience
      have been able to use the program in less than an hour.
      
      There is reference manual on the disk that is accessed through
      the main menu of the program and may also be sent to the printer
      from the main menu.  Of course you may use your DOS skills to
      read and dump the manual directly from the disk since it is in a
      ASCII file.                                                          
                
      There is also a printed tutorial/manual available and it will be
      sent to you if you choose to send us your name, address, and phone
      number so that we may register you.  The printed manual has
      additional information such as how the master and race files are
      structured so that they may be included in a word processor or a
      spreadsheet.  The registration fee is $25.00 and includes a genuine
      plastic folder with our logo printed in two colors.       
      
      The phone is more often than not answered 24 hours each day, 
      every day of the week.  If the answering service does answer the
      phone, please do not ask them about the program.  I promised
      that I would not lecture them about their business, if they
      promised to stay out of ours.  If Rick or Steve answers the phone,  
      fire away with your questions because you got through to the
      right person.  We will of course call you back if we are not able
